Special events
Heisler:

The Mt Rainier Scenic Railroad 3-truck Heisler, a West Coast Special" -- 99-ton superheated loco circa 1929, thunders towards the big newly-refurbished curved trestle between Elbe and Morton, Washington, during a special convention excursion run.
Steam Train Runby:
Convention excursion passengers on one Mt Rainier Scenic RR train enjoy a run-by from the ever-classy Hammond Lumber Company #17 Alco 2-8-2 tank engine hauling another train.
High Lead Show:

Merv Johnson helped organize a complete high-lead logging show, including two live-steam donkey models and a 4-truck Shay to switch the landing, on Tom Murray’s privately-owned 7-inch-gauge live-steam railroad. Such special events are frequently part of the logging convention.
Group Shay:

It took some doing – including hand-sanding the rails ahead of the tiny diesel switcher tasked with the job -- but we pulled the ex-Klickitat/St Regis Paper Company Shay from the shed at Camp 6 museum for a group photo during a convention a few years back.
Models
Engine Viewers:
Spectators always seem to enjoy the view while touring the convention model contest area.
Bachmann 2 truck:
A Bachmann 3-truck HO scale Shay was skillfully kitbashed into a 2-truck model by Andy Epperly.
Winning Diorama:
This diorama typifies the kind of high-grade modeling on display at the convention model contest.
Lon, Nelson Overall:
Layout modules, such as the amazingly well done Nelson Brothers Lumber Company built by Lon Wall, are often on display at the convention.
Speeders:
These powered speeders were scratch built by Yuta Susuki, a skilled Japanese modeler, who journeys across the Pacific for each convention. That’s a nickle on the table between the speeders. Seeing friends like Yuta each year is a big part of the fun of the event.
Rio Grande Dealer:

Dealer sales covering all kinds of books, model building supplies and model railroad rolling stock are a “must see” part of the convention. The photo shows Eric Bracher’s display of his Rio Grande Models kits and parts.
